DONATION POLICY & DISCLOSURE
Last Updated: September 2026
Thank you for supporting The Haven Between Animal Rescue.
Your generosity helps us provide safe foster care and necessary resources for animals on their way to permanent homes.
How Donations May Be Used
Unless a donation is specifically restricted and accepted by The Haven Between for a particular purpose, donations may be used where they are most needed to further our animal-welfare mission.
This may include:
- Veterinary exams
- Emergency veterinary care
- Spay and neuter procedures
- Vaccinations
- Microchips
- Deworming and parasite treatment
- Medication
- Food and formula
- Litter
- Bedding
- Foster supplies
- Transportation
- Rescue equipment
- Administrative expenses necessary to operate the rescue
- Other animal-welfare expenses
This flexibility allows us to respond to the needs of the animals currently in our care and those who come to us next.
Restricted or Designated Donations
Occasionally, we may raise funds for a specific animal, medical case, or project.
If more money is raised than is ultimately required for the designated need, unless otherwise stated, excess funds may be redirected to the care of other animals or another rescue need consistent with our mission.
Tax Status
The Haven Between Animal Rescue is currently pursuing recognition of federal tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3).
While a timely approved IRS application may ultimately result in recognition effective back to the organization’s formation date, contributors do not have advance assurance that donations made while an application is pending will qualify as tax-deductible. IRS
Accordingly:
Until our federal tax-exempt status is established, The Haven Between Animal Rescue does not represent contributions as tax-deductible.
Please consult your tax professional regarding your individual circumstances.
Florida Charitable Solicitation
The Haven Between intends to comply with applicable Florida charitable-solicitation requirements. Florida generally requires organizations soliciting donations in or from the state to register with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services unless an exemption applies. FDACS
Once your FDACS registration is complete, I would update this page with the exact state disclosure/registration language applicable to your organization.
Donations vs. Fees
For clarity:
Donation: A voluntary contribution made without receiving an adoption or application service in return.
Application Fee: A fee charged to process an adoption application.
Adoption Fee: A fee associated with the approved adoption of an animal that helps offset rescue and animal-care expenses.
Application fees and adoption fees should not be treated as charitable contributions merely because they are paid to an animal-rescue organization.
Refunds
Donations are generally nonrefundable.
If a donation was made accidentally or duplicated, please contact us as soon as possible.
Our Promise
We take stewardship seriously.
Every gift helps make it possible for The Haven Between to provide animals with the care, time, and safety they need on their way home.
The tax paperwork may be pending, but the rescue work definitely isn’t. 🐾🤎
