Athena

1o weeks old    Female

Athena is a sweet, playful little girl with a mind of her own and a whole lot of personality.

She’s fully socialized, loves to play, and happily accepts pets when the mood strikes. She’s ready for a family who will give her the love, playtime, and little bit of patience she needs to settle in and make herself completely at home.

Angelia

1o weeks old    Female

Angelia is a sweet, gentle girl who’s learning that people can be pretty wonderful.

She’s coming out to play, happily rolling onto her back when her foster mama is nearby, and getting closer every day to accepting pets. She just needs a patient family who will let her build trust at her own pace and enjoy watching her blossom.

Artemis

1o weeks old    Female

Artemis is a shy little girl who’s slowly discovering that it’s safe to let her guard down.

Once most comfortable hiding under the couch, she’s now coming out and even sleeping peacefully while her humans are nearby. She needs a patient, loving home that will let her move at her own pace and experience the joy of earning her trust.

Molly

Approx. 1 Year     Female

Molly is Mama to 8 babies! And what a wonderful Mama she is.

Molly is fully socialized and has made herself a part of our house. She came to us the day after she had her 8 babies. She was supposed to show up pregnant and give birth here but nature had other plans. It didn’t take her long to get comfortable as people had been feeding her in her neighborhood. She is still nursing as her babes just turned 4 weeks old. But once weaned and they are ready for their adoption, Molly will be ready for her furvever home.

She is the sweetest girl. She is good with other cats and dogs. She loves playing, cuddles, naps on the back of the couch and being wherever you are!

About The Application

What is the application fee?

There's a non-refundable $10 application fee to help cover the cost of processing, reference checks, and veterinary verification. This fee is separate from the adoption fee.

Why do you ask so many questions?

We're looking for the right match, not just any home. Your answers help us understand your lifestyle, experience, and what you're looking for so we can make sure you and the animal are a good fit for each other.

What happens after I submit my application?

We review all applications and contact your veterinarian, landlord (if applicable), and reference to verify the information you've provided. This typically takes 7-10 business days.

What if I've never owned a cat before?

That's okay! We're looking for commitment and willingness to learn, not experience. First-time pet owners are welcome.

Living Situation

Do you require a home visit?

Yes, we visit approved applicants' homes before finalizing adoption to ensure it's a safe environment for the animal.

Can my kitten go outside?

We recommend indoor living for safety and longevity. If outdoor access is important to you, we can discuss supervised or enclosed options during the adoption process.

What if I rent?

No problem! We'll verify with your landlord that pets are allowed under your lease.

Care & Commitment

What if it doesn't work out?

We're here to help. If you're struggling with your kitten's behavior or adjustment, reach out—we can provide guidance. If you truly can't keep your kitten, we'll take them back, no judgment.

What if my cat develops behavior problems?

Cats often need weeks or even months to adjust to a new home. Common issues like hiding, scratching, or litter box problems are normal during the adjustment period. We ask that adopters commit to patience and support. We're here to help troubleshoot.

What if my kitten shows behavior different from what I saw in foster care?

Rescued animals may behave differently in their own home than they did in foster care. We ask that you give your kitten time to adjust and reach out to us before considering return. We can provide guidance on common adjustment issues like hiding, aggression, or litter box problems.

Do you allow declawing?

No. Declawing is painful and causes lifelong complications. We do not adopt to homes planning to declaw.

What if I can't afford unexpected vet bills?

We ask that you have a plan for handling veterinary emergencies (savings, credit, care credit, etc.). Pet ownership is a financial responsibility we take seriously.

What if my life circumstances change (moving, divorce, job loss, etc.)?

Major life changes don't change your adoption commitment. If you're facing circumstances that make pet ownership difficult, contact us immediately. We're here to help problem-solve, whether that's finding pet-friendly housing, connecting you with resources, or arranging for the cat to return to us.

What if I can no longer care for my cat?

Please contact us directly rather than surrendering to a shelter, rehoming privately, or giving the cat away. We have a lifetime commitment to our animals and will help find a solution.

What is The Haven Between's Lifetime Return Requirement?

If circumstances ever change and you can no longer care for your cat, you must contact us first. We have a lifelong commitment to our animals and will help find an appropriate solution. Returning your cat to us is always preferable to surrendering to a shelter, rehoming privately, or abandoning.

Adoption Fees

What does the adoption fee cover?

Your fee helps offset the veterinary care your new family member received while in rescue—including vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchipping, deworming, and other care. It also helps us rescue the next animal in need.

Bonded Pairs

Should I adopt a bonded pair?

If two cats have bonded, they benefit from staying together. Adopting both means they have a familiar companion during the transition, which eases adjustment.

Timeline & Pickup

How long does the process take?

From application to bringing your cat home typically takes 1-2 weeks, depending on reference responses and home visit scheduling.

When can I pick up my kitten?

Most adoptions can be arranged within a few days of approval. We want both you and your kitten to be ready for this big transition.

Before Adoption

Do kittens come spayed/neutered?

Age-appropriate kittens (typically 4+ months) will be spayed/neutered before adoption. Younger kittens may need to return for the procedure at 4-5 months old; we'll cover the cost.

What's your adoption agreement about?

Our adoption agreement outlines your commitment to providing care and our commitment to support. It includes clauses about indoor living, veterinary care, spay/neuter requirements, no declawing, and our Lifetime Return Requirement.

Can I change the microchip contact information?

Yes, but we ask that you keep The Haven Between listed as a secondary or emergency contact on the microchip registration when possible. This helps us assist if your cat is ever lost and brought to a vet or shelter.

After Adoption

Do you offer support after adoption?

Yes! You have lifetime support from us. If behavioral or health questions arise, we're here to help.
